Squeeze The Lime released this little gem of a video about “Herlinde’s Fist Photo Shoot”. Bert Stephani shows what he would normally do when braking in a new model. I found though that the video sort of morphed into this less complicated guide to portrait photo shooting. Just simply showing the user position of lights, reflectors and what lenses to use then after that show the result is just simply inspiring! Thanks Bert! –>Click Here<–

Check out Vimeo.com. Its a great site that shares flickrs concept of free service but can go pro. Of course its only for video. You get a 500MB a week uploading free which video from those small cameras is more than enough. The processing time is a little long (max I have seen is 1 hour) before your video is live but you can remove that waiting time by going pro. Now pro is not the cheapest thing either but you can upload HD video after that so it really depends on what your doing. Regardless if you join or not take a look at some of the videos. You wont be disappointed. –>Click Here<–

Last but not least I wanted to reference Victor W. again! If you have not added this guy as a contact you need too do it now… I am waiting… I said do it now!!! Ok joking aside you really need to keep an eye on this pro photographers stream as he is a real inspiration! His recent master piece I can’t stop looking at either. Fantastic lighting, great subject and very very original!

Every Friday I am hoping I can post the best links I come across about photography. So here is this weeks selection

Visit Squeeze The Lime for a fantastic video on “Quick Ambient Light Portraits”. Bert Stephani give us a guide to making fantastic portraits without using any flash equipment, using the full potental of the light that simply comes through the window. –>Click Here<–

LIME004 – Quick Ambient Light Portraits from Lime Photography on Vimeo.

At This Week In Photography new contributor Andy Ihnatko columnist for the Chicago Sun Times and Macworld Magazine, gave a great insight in the personal issues we photographers face. People using Auto mode! –>Click Here<–

Our own Victor W. give a insightful post on flickr last week about converting your images to Black and White and maintain the maxinum amount of quality and control. Something converting to Grayscale is lacking. Part One –>Click Here<– / Part Two –>Click Here<–

Finally Yamaneko also on the flicker forum posted a tutorial on drawing a picture using light. Something I have been meaning to try for a while. Thanks Yamaneko and congratulations on getting the 450D! –>Click Here<–

Hey there guys,

I know I am a little late but Happy New Year!

I wanted to go over a few things about the blog. We moved from blogger to wordpress and also changed the URL a little bit. I basically joined Hatphoto with Nomagicpill so that I can keep it on my own server and URL we there are no additional costs and also without having to suffer the crap with free services not being as flexible as I like it to be.

So http://hatphoto.nomagicpill.org is the new URL

Also Victor from the flickr forums will be joining the writing team. He has happily offered help out with his vast knowledge of photography. From Rob and The Lassie and myself we welcome you to the blog!

We also have finally set up a flickr group http://www.flickr.com/groups/hatphoto/ so please sign up and enter your photos in the pool. Soon we will be setting up competitions every month.

After that its going to be business as usual.

Enjoy!
