I've been that interested I'm doing a DIY route - cordless doorbells. Yep, they use the same low power PMR frquency as pocket wizards, you can sync. through the doorbell push and fire from the receiver, (doorbell), via it's decoder chip and a solid state opto triac isolator. Not as pretty, but I've got a couple kicking around doing nothing so having a go. (Plus they're encoded too!) Flashes are expensive, but I even found some schematics to have a go at building them too, and at a fraction of the price! Ah, pocket wizards.
